Hope Landing is a 5-unit apartment building located in the Newark/Heath area in Licking County which rents exclusively to former foster youth, ages 18-23. The goal of Hope Landing is to temporarily provide for a housing opportunity for youth that are struggling to find a traditional landlord willing to rent to them until they have established a rental and credit history.
The location is within walking and biking distance of several job opportunities as well as food and service options. Often youth who are starting out on their own have very little to set up their first place. The rental units are fully furnished. Initial hygiene, cleaning and laundry supplies are also provided. Hope Landing has an on-site resource person as well as volunteer mentors that are able to provide general guidance and independent living skills support.
Ways To Help
The Partner Program
Individuals and organizations can provide the safety net to prevent homelessness for foster youth. Local churches, civic groups, or families can partner with Fostering Further to provide a one-bedroom unit for transition-age foster youth, which allows them time to obtain a job and become connected to professional resources. There are several ways to become involved.
